Hi, in math class I made a measuring device known as a scale. I'm now learning about English measurement. In Europe, children only learn the metric system, so this is my first experience with ounces, pounds, and tons. The scale is easy to make, in case you want to make your own. You will need a dowel, two or four hooks, two plastic bags with handles, and about two feet of string. If you are using two hooks, then first take the dowel and place the hooks on the ends. Second, take the string and make a slip knot and hang it in the center of the dowel (do not attach it to the hooks). The third part is very simple. Just hang the handles of the bag on the hooks. Then you must find the spot where the balance is perfect and mark it at that spot. Then you can begin to experiment between different objects, finding out which is heavier.
